Cataracts are a widespread problem in rural Mozambique. Caused by a build-up of protein that clouds the eye’s lens, it makes people blind. A travelling Mozambican surgical team supported by Sightsavers UK have been working in Rebaue Hospital in the north of Mozambique to restore people’s sight.
Blinded by cataracts in both eyes, Maria Albino in Namina Village near Ribaue, Mozambique, needs a helping hand wherever she goes.
